While I was away:

Standard

Quick updates here:

While I was away I submitted a revision of a short story to a shared-world anthology (details to come) that was received quite well.

I received my final check for my current contract with Del Rey, which my stupid bank is going to hold until next week even though they’ve promised they wouldn’t have to do that any more and I have enough in my fucking account to cover it. (Good to have new money, though).

I made good progress on the revisions for A Key, An Egg, An Unfortunate Remark, having solved the notes my agent gave me. I hope I’ve solved them, anyway.

Finally, I dealt with a hundred minor annoyances that I couldn’t tweet about. Hmph.

  1. Loved your first two books, Harry. I picked up Circle of Enemies last week, but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I’m confident it will be as great as the first two. Your comment regarding your contract with Del Rey makes me a bit nervous as I’m hoping we will see many more installments in the Twenty Palaces series. Do you have anything else lined up yet?

  2. Chad, the next book (a prequel) is already written. Del Rey is waiting to see how well book three does before they offer a contract for more books. Personally, I feel good about Circle of Enemies because it’s the best thing I’ve ever written, but I’m still waiting to see the numbers.

That said, there’s always the option to write the book and release it on my own. There are a lot of options right now.

  3. Thanks for the reassurance. I look forward to reading the prequel (regardless of the distribution platform), and I’m now even more ready to get started on Circle of Enemies.
